INSERT COIN FOR AWESOME

At Insert Coin Towers, we often get asked about what we do and how we make sure our products are a bit different and a bit special – so we thought we’d write a little blog to help explain it all…

When we first set-up Insert Coin back in 2010, we had a clear plan in mind. We wanted to make videogame apparel that looked awesome, that was great to wear and that allowed gamers to represent and feel like part of their community – not just a walking billboard.

And so the first part of achieving that was in the design. With decades of creative experience behind us, we set out to look at what we could bring to the party. We knew we wanted to offer gamers-like-us all the stuff we wanted to wear – something other gamers would look at and recognise instantly, but that to anyone else would just be a great bit of design.

In fact, the key words have always been subtlety and simplicity – drawing on gaming’s rich heritage and sense of identity to bring the finished products to life. And, by working in partnership with game developers, producers and publishers, we’ve been able to take that to the next level – with our designs taking the experience even further, from console to wardrobe.

The other thing that sets us apart is that we make everything that is on our website – and we make it from scratch. Most t-shirt companies just use run-of-the-mill, off-the-shelf tees and hoodies bought in bulk, sometimes relabelling them to make it look otherwise.

We didn’t want to do that. We wanted to make sure that we could always be confident in the quality of everything we sell. So, taking our t-shirts as an example, that means designing them from the cotton flower up. We hand-choose the raw materials, the dyes used and the cut of each and every item we make. It’s all to our specification – made exclusively for us, by us.

This means we can seamlessly match a tee to the colour palette of a game, or we can sculpt hoods, gloves, sleeves – in fact, pretty much anything – to our exact designs. And in turn that means you end up with something in your wardrobe that’s truly unique, made to last and – more importantly – made for you, as a gamer.

The final part of our manifesto was to provide the best possible service to our community, ensuring everyone knows they can always contact us if they need to, that we’re not just a faceless entity and that we’ll always strive to give you all the latest news – from Insert Coin Towers and beyond. In fact, whether it’s via email, tweets, Facebook posts, phone calls or carrier pigeon, we are always standing by to help in any way we can.

So, those were the foundations for Insert Coin way back in 2010 – and they’re what we still base all our work on today. We think every gamer deserves to represent in style, and we’re determined to help everyone get their geek on…
